Michael Kors Wristlet or Crossbody For Hands-Free Living

It is always nice to make a fashion statement with one of the many fantastic Michael Kors handbags. However, when the occasion calls for both hands, a shoulder strap or clutch just won’t do. A night of dancing or grocery shopping with kids in tow means all hands on deck. When double-handed duty is called for, which is easier to manage, a wristlet or crossbody handbag? Four new hands-free styles are available this Fall, three in the Jet Set collection and then the very feminine style, Analise.

Wristlet

My personal favorite for hands-free ease is the wristlet. Small, compact, yet large enough to carry exactly what I want.  In my humble fashionista opinion, the most functional of Michael Kors’ new wristlets is the Jet Set Travel Large Perforated-Leather Phone Case. It is a true wristlet size. Like the other designs, it has card slots and a zipper closure that creates one large compartment. However, there are three extras that set this one apart from the others:

  • Zippered coin compartment
  • Slot for your bills
  • Separate phone pocket

For me, it’s the phone compartment that sells this wristlet. In the others, you only have the compartment that is created by the main zipper closure. This one keeps my phone safely tucked away if I’m only opening the bag up to get my lipstick or pay for a purchase. With the others, I would have to fumble with holding my phone or juggling to keep it inside while I scrambled around sliding out a credit card or cash.

Created from Saffiano leather that features modern design perforations, it goes with anything and is easy to keep clean. The leather ages beautifully yet is durable enough to take a beating. That is good news because this is the kind of wristlet you will carry every day wherever you go. It only comes in white with silver accents behind the perforations. Despite the color limitations, I still love this wristlet.

Crossbody

If you have a bit more stuff to carry around, Michael Kors has a crossbody style handbag with more space yet still is as sleek as a wristlet. The [easyazon_link identifier=”B00LABB1UG” locale=”US” tag=”jfaction-20″]Jet Set Saffiano Leather Smartphone Crossbody[/easyazon_link] features an adjustable leather strap with a polished buckle. Where the strap attaches to the handbag, it is jazzed up with a bit of gold-tone chain. One slit pocket on the exterior of the bag makes it convenient to stow car keys, so you don’t have to rummage around for them. A secure stow-away pocket inside the bag is roomy enough for even the largest smartphone. It has slots to accommodate five credit cards and one zipper pocket for bills, change, and lipstick. When you open up the bag, it unfolds like an accordion making it easy to find anything. The craftsmanship creates a seamless, classic look that is perfect by day and stylish by night. There are five color choices: antique rose, bisque, black, moss, and pale pink.

Special Occasion

If you want a bit more dazzle and sparkle for a hands-free night out, you will have to forego the 2016 Fall Collection and hearken back to some of the classic evening bags of past collections. I personally opt for Michael Kors’ Yasmeen Large Glitter Leather Clutch. It is 100% leather in classic black with glittery sparkle everywhere. It’s like toting around a bit of a starry night.

Officially a clutch, it comes with a silver chain shoulder strap that converts it to a shoulder bag. For many women, the strap is long enough to wear as a cross body style if you prefer to go hands-free on the dance floor and not leave your bag behind on the table. It has simple lines which scream glamor and is only available in black.
